Anti-Cancer Superfoods: Do They Really Work?


The short answer to this question is -- drum roll, please -- yes. They really do. While studies are ongoing, and in many cases experts still don't know exactly how these superfoods work, there's strong evidence that certain fruits and vegetables rich in plant-based nutrients can both prevent tumors from starting and halt their growth. Here, the top foods to work into the family diet if you'd like to cut cancer risk or help those with cancer recover. And who wouldn't?
1. Blueberries, Acai Berries, Raspberries, and Cranberries.
The rich, dark colors of blueberries, Brazilian acai berries, raspberries and cranberries come from phytochemicals that protect against numerous types of
cancer. Most recently, researchers at the University of Florida found that the active ingredient in acai berries destroyed cancer cells when tested in cell cultures. And blueberries and muscadine grapes contain compounds that recent research shows cause cancer cells in the liver to self-destruct. In studies particularly important to women, cranberries have recently been discovered to be an important weapon in the fight against deadly ovarian cancer. Studies reported at the annual meeting of the American Chemical Society found that ovarian cancer cells that were becoming resistant to platinum chemotherapy – the standard of care for ovarian cancer – became six times more sensitive when exposed to a compound in cranberries.

Made it 13 days just JUICING.

Well I had 1 salad on my juicefeast .I think it let me go off of my juice quest ,because I am still juice drinking,but RAW FOODS are also added in my days too.I ending my pure juicefeast Sept12th,because I started the last day of August 2009.I so want to make it 21-30 days just juicing.I will try again some other time.I am proud of my time I did my juicing~I feel great.I am exercising at least 5 days a week.I enjoy the treadmill,elliptical and the rowing machine.I am feeling great.My left foot is bugging me and I am not happy with that.I have been slowly jogging off and on for 2 minutes at a time in a 1 hour span.This is a good thing because I don't run.I really want my fat to go away.It took years to get on me it won't go away on its own.I am taking my time and it will go away.If I put a date on when my weight should be gone it sets me up for failure.I am just eating raw and enjoying the ride. JUICE JUICE JUICE.Its awesome.Green smoothies are my second favorite to juicing~

4th day on my Juicefeast

I am so proud of myself.I have been juicing green vegi drinks and fruit juicing too.I am totally satisfied and feel great.I have newly incorporated 1.5 average hours at the gym 5 days a week.And I plan on sticking with the exercise.When I hurt my back with the trainer fellow in 2001,I stopped and really never went back at a regular ongoing time frame.Oh,and did say I gained all of that 40 lb weight loss and gained more this time around.
I realized since I started raw eating in Oct 2008 it wasn't until the 3rd week in January of this year 2009 until raw was the majority of my main meals.HIGH RAW is what I considered myself.
A local friend and myself plan on sticking with "Raw Eating" to our best ability.
Since this is my 4Th straight day juicing I am not putting a time on how many days I will stick to this.I am feeling good and as long as I feel good I will continue my juicing.Since I did 2 Master Cleanse episodes.one was 10 days and 1 was 12 days,I know I can do this at least that long.
